Meet the Judges

Each year, a panel of judges from across Appalachia is assembled to help Mtn Craft determine which films walk away with their exclusive awards. These professionals spend countless hours to sifting through each entry and managing quality control. We’re endlessly grateful to the work of these entities and the dedication they prove to our program. Get to know them below:

A.J. Thomas started watching movies religiously thanks to WatchMojo's Top 10 lists in 2014 and hasn't slowed down since. A.J. is not native to Appalachia, but he has lived here for over a third of his life. So at this point, he might as well be. He currently lives in Roanoke, Virginia (by way of Chicago and Lubin, Poland) with his wife and two cats.
