Highway 251
Runtime: 10:34In July 2025, Jacob Hill and Lennie Antonelli, were struck and killed by a dump truck while riding on Highway 251. This moment impacted not only the cycling community, but the broader Asheville area. Following this event, Brooke Darby, a mountain biker, made a last-minute decision to rush home from college for the Asheville Gran Fondo to be in her home, and do what she loves – bike in her beloved Appalachian Mountains.
Director - Grace Ellen Callihan
Grace Ellen Callihan is a junior at Appalachian State University studying Electronic Media/Broadcasting and Spanish and Hispanic Studies. She is the station manager of App State’s student-run television station, AppTV, and an outdoor enthusiast. She found her passion for filmmaking in high school by capturing her outdoor expeditions for her youtube channel. Whether it was mountain biking Bent creek or skiing Cataloochee, Grace Ellen wanted to share her love for her region to as many as possible, and still pushes herself to still do that today.
