Directors Statement
I got to make a movie with my mom.
'On Camera' was crafted around the idea of an ofrenda; little did I know just how much of an invitation it would be to continue hearing from and learning from my mom, nor how much I would become a kind of living ofrenda in the process.
Though we encountered many challenges that should have made making this project impossible, my mom kept helping me find a way. 'On Camera' became the little film that could. It is the story I needed to tell and the movie I needed to make, and in the times we live in today, it is representative of the kind of work I want to make and put out into this world, who I am, and how I see and navigate life as a director, artist, and human being.
